Can't Stop the Music Sunday 12/25/11 9-11pm - Good for the Jews

Eric Walters, of Wide Ear Folk, & I will play two hours of music that is Good for the Jews tonight on Can't Stop the Music.  Really, won't you have had it with reindeer & sleigh bells by then?

97.3FM WRIR & streaming on http://www.wrir.org/.

This will be my second to last edition of Can't Stop the Music, which ends January 1, 2012, after nearly five years.  The menorah oil only lasted for 8 days & 8 nights.

we drove our El Camino in the Providence Forge Christmas Parade

Waiting to launch.  A bit like heavy traffic on I-95: an hour of idling & getting nowhere.
 Bodyshop truck towing a boat.

 Many tractors, of various vintages.
Driver's eye view of parade coming & going, making the loop through downtown PF.
Of course, the New Kent Tea Party, complete with tricorners, fife, drum & Constitution.
 Our fans.
Two, count 'em, two grown-up Jesus with cave, rock, & cross floats.

The other El Camino, a '68.  There was also a Ranchero.
The district's new supervisor, TP candidate, demonstrating his professional acumen.
Bill's Hot Dog's, closed.  But they did have a truck in the parade.
 Parade viewers.

Ho ho ho.
We were a little carsick after two hours & two miles but happy to be waved at by our neighbors in camo & fur.

Special edition art-o-mats made by Richmond Artists for the special anniversary, waiting to be loaded yesterday.  Now in the Richmond Art-o-mat, while supplies last.

Grip & Grin - Clark & Alyssa.

A great party last night at VisArts commemorating 10 Years of Kerplunking Culture in RVA, with an artist talk by Clark Whittington, & the opening of an exhibition about Art-o-mat.  Folks lined up to make their selections ... & no pepper spray was involved!

Exhibition continues through January 2012 at VisArts

official uniform

I did get much more than this from Tristan Lowe's lecture this evening but one has to ask: Is a red short-sleeved t-shirt over a blue long-sleeved t-shirt Tristan Lowe's official uniform?

He's wearing the same thing in his big chair photo as he was tonight on stage.  It's not pajamas but ...

before & after Studio Sale

Over three days of Studio Sale, 50 pieces - made between 1997 & 2007, previously exhibited or presented - went home with friends to have lives out in the world as art, instead of continuing in the dark as stored nothings.  During this month, a grand total of nearly 70 pieces became visible again.  Value can be created with an exchange of something other than a large pile of money.  Thank you for coming.  Thank you for going home with my art & for hanging it in your homes & offices.  And thank you Visual Arts Center for a great location and kind support.  Totally amazing.
